The style of my work seems to evolve from year to year. I started out with the intention of photo realism because I enjoyed the challenge, yet that same challenge occurs even when my goal is to simplify. I anticipate loosening up my strokes and color and keep the shapes simple, allowing an object to take on it's own form and highlight of color and give it a unique stylistic approach. This is a new goal of mine, and already I look forward to new surprises for my next inspiration.

My yearly visit to Captn Jack's Wharf in Cape Cod was one of my main sources of inspiration. I fell in love with Provincetown's colorful people and inspirational artists, it's rich historical landscapes, the softness and drastic shadows of the dunes, and breezes that wake up the soul. That first deep breathe upon walking along the dock fills me with an unforgettable calmness. How can I not want to take that home?

Outside my front door has been a new muse for me, (especially this cold cold winter) taking the time to look out my window(s) and notice the changes that occur from season to season, from sunlight to moonlight, can bring new inspirations, when I take the time to look. That very moment of stillness will never return and hopefully on occasion, I can preserve a specific time and suspend it on my (or your) wall forever.

There are times I am connected with a certain cast shadow siding up with a brilliant sun ray of color creating a newly formed shape of values, I cannot help but become captured with the beauty of the moment.  Sometimes a simple photograph won't do. I have a need to recreate it with my brush.  A form of connection and communication with the simple beauty of my little world.

In the cold winter months, I and my students work from the warm, candle scented studio. Sometimes with soft music or hot herbal teas for some added comfort and to leave the bustle of the real working world behind us.

I have a lot to be thankful for that I have been guided to the path of artistic expression. It has become something very strong within me that I carry along wherever I go.

You should really come and learn to experience the world through an artists eyes.

Warning: It can become very contagious and highly addictive.
